Let’s consider an example of corporate access management. The VP of Sales and Marketing should not have access to the data gathered by Research and Development. Setting up these access restrictions is impossible if management is limited to two levels. No distinction could be made between heads of different departments. If both department managers had Master Tokens, they could get into anything, and if not, they could not have any management capabilities.

This is where GoldKey GrandMaster Tokens come in – to manage Master Tokens within an organization. Because of this second level of management, Master Tokens can be given full control over a department, and be incapable of accessing information they should not be privy to.

GrandMaster Tokens also allow GoldKey tokens to be registered to different department Master Tokens, and be able to share data through groups created by the GrandMaster.

GoldKey Master and GrandMaster Tokens

GoldKey technology provides two levels of hierarchy above user tokens, Master and GrandMaster, with the ability to manage an unlimited number of tokens. GoldKey Tokens can be organized by a Master into groups, as shown in the diagram above. Each Master can manage up to 64 groups and can unlock any data encrypted by its users. Master Tokens can be managed by a GrandMaster, which can open any information encrypted by any token in its system. GrandMaster Tokens are usually kept in a vault or secure location and used only when a Master needs to be replaced. Multiple GrandMasters can be ordered if a company desires more than one, perhaps for multiple locations, but a GrandMaster cannot be duplicated after production.

Replace Lost or Damaged Tokens

If a GoldKey Token is lost or damaged, none of the data encrypted with it is lost, as long as it was programmed with a Master Token. The Master Token can open all of the files that were encrypted and can even re-program a new GoldKey Token to replace it, and can disable the lost token’s access to data stored in the cloud. A Master can even create duplicates for users in any of its groups.
